Cultures of Remembrance

Сultures of Remembrance is a project that aims to critically examine how World War II, National Socialism and the fight against it is remembered in different regions. Together with a broad network of activists, historians and people who joined the journey we develop alternative concepts for commemoration and challenge current narratives.

With the next step “Decolonising Cultures of Remembrance”, the project questions current narratives on history and their (mis)use in the light of ongoing war in Ukraine, growing tensions and the rising far-right movement.

With two travels, online exhibition, workshop program and festivals in Moldova, Poland and Germany, we bring together activists, foster dialogue, promote strategies of resilience and negotiate the question “has remembrance failed?”, putting the focus on marginalized and decolonial perspectives.
